The chief of the Tobique First Nation says the Maliseet First Nations are considering putting forth a claim of Aboriginal title for traditional lands in western New Brunswick. "Right now we're doing our best to gather all the traditional knowledge we have from our elders and we hope to hire an ethno-historian to build our case," said Chief Ross Perley.
The Ringling Brothers circus may have closed this year, but one circus group is still going strong. The Great Benjamin's Circus is touring New Brunswick over the next few weeks and performed in Fredericton on Saturday. Noah Starr, who served in Afghanistan, says the government's interference in the issue amounts to a threat to his health and well-being.
The Fredericton Legion Branch 4 is trying something new to attract younger members. The Texas based charity Operation Supply Drop, which sends gaming gear to military organizations, sent three boxes of video games and gear to the legion. The Fredericton branch is the first legion in Canada to get a donation that included four gaming consoles and dozens of games.
